Splitboard Canada

Splitboard Canada? In February 2019 we will be running a Rider Social trip to British Columbia’s Kootenay Rockies, the home of the famed Canadian Powder Highway.  It’s consistent snowfall, deep powder and ranges like the Rockies and Monashees make it home to some of the best backcountry snowboarding in the world.

You will be based in the cool little mountain town of Fernie, which offers up steeps, trees, blower pow and excellent splitboard touring potential. Up to 37 feet of snow falls in Fernie each year and it is of the famed Canadian champagne powder variety.

Fernie Alpine ski resort itself has five enormous bowls, countless glades & chutes and terrain that appeals to all levels. It also offers up bountiful lift accessed splitboard touring options too.

On this trip though we are more interested in what its backcountry has to offer.

Your guide will be Jean-Yves Fredriksen UIAGM who will lead you on 8 consecutive days of pure backcountry splitboarding. Zones including Tunnel Creek await and we will look to use mountain huts on some nights in order to fully explore this incredible area.

We will be staying in very comfortable private accommodation close to downtown Fernie which is home to many cool little bars and restaurants. For 6 of the 9 nights we will fully cater for you in our chosen  accommodation giving us a chance to eat dinner out on 3 evenings. Breakfast is included every morning of your stay and the fridge will be well stocked with cold beers and snacks at all times!

The scheduled dates for this trip are 2nd – 11th February 2019

The cost per person (maximum group size of 4) is €3,520
